"Whimsical Weddings: Creating Story Telling Magic with Design"

Updated: Feb 29

Boho inspired neutral wedding decorations with muted florals

Ever wonder how to create a story telling design that shares the things you love most about your relationship into the details of your wedding day? You're not the only one who struggles with how to bring those unique elements into your day without feeling like your planning a themed party.

Before I even discuss colors, style preferences, Pinterest boards, or themes with my clients I always get to know their story. How did they meet, where was their first date, how did the proposal go? All the same questions you would expect a wedding vendor to ask of you but the real vision starts when you dig deeper into what makes you unique, as a couple, and as individuals.

What are your hobbies? What are things that make you smile? What are your favorite foods? What's your favorite date night? How does your partner make you feel? What activities do you enjoy doing together? What's something you say to each other all the time? What's your favorite thing about your partner and how would you describe them? All of these questions can be a great insight into your wedding identity and help you establish what elements of your relationship you want your guest to experience.

Now your probably wondering how you would go about pulling any type of wedding inspiration for design from these questions.

WELL LET ME SHOW YOU!

When we thought about the question "What's something you say to each other all the time?" our answer was "I love you to the moon and back".

Our hobbies consist of rock collecting, treasure hunting, and outdoor adventures.

We love sweet treats and all things sparkles.

After looking through our answers we instantly knew we found the perfect elements for creating a story telling design for our day.

THE MOOD BOARD | THE COLORS | THE INSPIRATION

Now we didn't want to go all out celestial and most definitely didn't want our wedding guest to feel like they were attending Prom, "A Night Under The Stars", but we wanted a subtle homage to the moon and our hobbies that would tell a story. Below is a gallery of curated images from the design process of our wedding colors and inspirations pictures.

The small details we wove into our wedding day truly captured our story through design and let our guests be a part of writing our next story.
